The waste management and recycling company SIA MOSK 1 has successfully expanded its technological capacity by installing a new recycling unit. This advancement enables the company to process end-of-life electrical equipment and increase its scrap metal recycling volumes by at least 30%, boosting the reuse of valuable raw materials.
In 2024, SIA MOSK 1 managed over 8,000 tons of scrap metal and 100 tons of household electrical equipment, ensuring the environmentally friendly reuse of valuable resources. The total volume of various types of waste handled reached 15,000 tons annually.
The introduction of the new waste recycling line marks a strategic step in the company's development—especially in light of the Waste Management Plan 2021–2028, which aims to significantly reduce landfilled waste by 2035 and emphasizes the need for more powerful and modern sorting technologies.
“At the beginning of 2024, we received the approved amendments to our A-category polluting activity permit, which now allows us not only to collect, manage, and sort metal waste, but also to recycle it — in accordance with EU Regulation No. 333 of the European Parliament and Council, which defines when metal scrap is no longer considered waste,” notes Ivo Krontāls, Member of the Board at SIA MOSK 1. “We are pleased that, thanks to the new recycling equipment, we can now offer even more efficient and sustainable solutions for the recycling of household electrical equipment, while fully complying with the Waste Management Law and ISO quality standards.”
The company’s quality and reliability as a partner have already been positively recognized by Latvia’s leading waste management companies.
