The company "Baltic Waste & Energy Group" (BWEG) is participating in a competition organized by the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection, and Sports (DDPS), aimed at finding environmentally friendly and safe methods for the recovery of ammunition from Swiss lakes.
"BWEG" is a holding company established in Latvia, specializing in sustainable waste management, renewable energy production, and environmental consulting. The company is known in its industry for new technologies and solutions that are based on sustainability, innovation, and environmental protection. It offers modern technologies and methods that help reduce environmental pollution and promote the production of eco-friendly energy.
The competition "Environmentally Safe Ammunition Recovery Methods from Swiss Lakes" specifically focuses on finding sustainable solutions that help protect ecosystems and address the issue of old military ammunition found in Swiss lakes. The lakes of Lucerne, Thun, and Brienz are associated with significant environmental and safety concerns, as ammunition submerged in the water not only threatens water quality but also the lake ecosystems and biodiversity.
Ivars Lamberts, a member of the board of "Baltic Waste & Energy Group," says: “Participating in such a large-scale competition is a great opportunity for us not only to demonstrate our company’s capabilities in solving global environmental issues but also to make a significant contribution to the sustainability of Swiss lakes. We hope that our solutions will help improve environmental protection in this region and create valuable solutions that can be used in other countries with similar issues. The knowledge of our experienced specialists and the modern technologies we offer provide us with the ability to develop complex engineering and environmental projects.”
"BWEG" has submitted a conceptual idea for the competition, offering innovative and safe methods to reduce sediment dispersion in Swiss lakes, effectively identify ammunition locations, and carry out its collection with minimal environmental impact. The approach is based on high-tech precision with low energy consumption and strict environmental protection requirements, which is especially important when working in delicate and protected water bodies.
